Of course I wait until my last three days to write anything about my incredible six weeks in Washington, D.C. There is no possible way to do it justice in one post, so I'll probably spread it out, but here's something for starters.
I applied kind of on a whim to intern on Capitol Hill for Kansas Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins and ended up getting it. Honestly, I'm not really that into the politics scene, but being here has given me a whole new respect and understanding for what the government does (or doesn't) do. D.C. is all politics all the time, and my indifference to politics notwithstanding, I've had the BEST time.
I got super lucky with my random roomie in GWU housing, Sydney. She introduced me to more fellow Arkansans than I ever expected to meet, and we had a blast exploring the city. I would have been so lonely without my shopping/walking/eating buddy! (That's us at Eastern Market.) I'm here for a week longer than most of the kids we were hanging out with, and I'm having withdrawals from my D.C. fam.
